Main skill: Time trials, lead out in the finale.
Career:
Started racing at age 17 and progressed rapidly to second category. Gained first category at the age of 20, and raced abroad with AC Perpignan in 1985 / 86.
Returned to UK to conclude degree course, and raced at elite amateur level until 1992, when career objectives had to take higher priority. Continued to race at reasonable level, but emphasised Time Trialling because of the lower training commitment required to acheive acceptable results.
Founded Team Synergy in 1998 /99 with Grant Phillips.
Continues to race tandems with his wife Ruth (they are fastest on record mixed crew over 15 miles out and back) and to ride both solo time trials and road races.

Cycling has given me immense pleasure and has taken me all over Europe. Many of my best and closest friendships, and even my marriage, have a lot to do with cycling!
I have been the recipient of enormous amounts of help and hospitality over the years, and could not have done many of the things I have done, or seen many of the things I have seen, without that help and hospitality. Part of the ethos of Team Synergy is to repay a small part of that debt.
