About www.cycleweb.co.uk
|
www.cycleweb.co.uk is designed as an open source of
information, free of charge, for any cyclist, participant in
the trade or other interested party to use. It arose out of
a conversation between Peter Buckley Saxon and Graeme Freestone
King in 1998, before the current trend on the internet for "niche
portals".
The site attracts a fairly catholic following, from first-time
cycle owners, through committed commuting cyclists, to racing
cyclists. We have visits from the cycle trade, from all kinds
of company management interested in introducing a pro-cycle
commuting policy in their companies and from all of the governing
bodies in British cycle sport. Unique visits per day (as distinct
from "hits") run at an average of 700 at the time
of writing.
We have plans to produce an income stream from cycleweb, as
the databases that cycleweb relies upon have to be constantly
updated, and this is a time consuming process. For this reason,
we have chosen to partner
teamSYNERGY
in order to increase site traffic, and so possible revenues.
Our intention is that the information held on the site will
always remain free to access.
